The MCS Plymouth Local Group is very active, holding many different activities throughout the year. Full details of all these activities can be found on the relevant page in the 'Events' section, but listed below are some quick dates for your reference.

2008

Saturday 12th January
Beach cleanups at Jennycliffe and Batten Bay with a Seashore Safari at Batten Bay. Meeting at 10.30am in Jennycliffe car park and heading over to Batten Bay around 12.00pm for the second cleanup and Seashore Safari. There will also be a BBQ afterwards on the beach.

Thursday 31st January
January monthly meeting - Dominic Flint talking on"Tierra del Fuego to South Georgia". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Thursday 28th February
February monthly meeting - Jason Hall-Spencer talking about Arctic coral reefs and Antony Jinman talking about Polar Venture's forthcoming expedition to Baffin Island. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Thursday 20th March
MCS Plymouth Local Group photo competition launched - see the Photo Competition page for more details and to download the entry form and rules.

Thursday 27th March
March monthly meeting - Dr John Bishop talking about non-native marine species. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Saturday 29th March
Beach cleanup at Batten Bay. Meeting at 11.00am at Batten Bay at the top of the steps.

Thursday 24th April
April monthly meeting - Fiona Crouch will be talking to us about "The Shore Thing" project and Ali Hood will be talkign to us about "All the latest on UK sharks". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Thursday 29th May
May monthly meeting - Dr Richard Thompson will give a talk on "Plastic Debris in the Marine Environment". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Sunday 22nd June
Beach cleanup at Batten Bay. Meeting at 10.00am at Batten Bay at the top of the steps.

Thursday 26th June
June monthly meeting - Roger Covey, together with other speakers, will join us for an evening about "Fish and Fishing". Unfortunately this meeting has been cancelled.

Friday 18th July
Closing date for the MCS Plymouth Local Group photo competition - see the Photo Competition page for more details.

Thursday 31st July
July monthly meeting - Gavin Black will be talking to us about "Devon's Marine Megafauna". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

August
NO MEETING.

Saturday 20th September
Beach clean and underwater cleanup at Batten Bay for the MCS Beachwatch weekend and PADI Project AWARE International Underwater Cleanup Day. Meeting at 10.30am at Batten Bay at the top of the steps. Divers need to bring their own kit, in test. In Deep dive club will be joining us for this event.

Thursday 25th September
September monthly meeting - Dr Keith Hiscock will be talking about "The ends of the Earth - South America to Antarctica". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Thursday 30th October
October monthly meeting - Dr Nova Mieszkowska will be talking to us about "Climate Change". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.

Thursday 27th November
September monthly meeting - Melissa Moore will be talking to us about "Marine Renewables". Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.
