Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 24th February</span><br> February monthly meeting - John Hepburn will be giving a talk on, &quot;More than dots on the horizon: the maritime sector and why you should be interested in it&quot;, followed by Dominic Flint (MCS Plymouth Local Group) giving a talk on, &quot;Finding Sanctuary: The MCS View&quot;. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 24th March</span><br> March monthly meeting - Isobel Bloor will be giving a talk on, &quot;Cuttlefish – their life and new research in the CRESH project&quot;. Starting at 7.30pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 9th April</span><br> Beach cleanup at Batten Bay. Meeting at 11.00am at the top of the steps at Batten Bay.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 28th April</span><br> April monthly meeting - Sally Sharrock (MCS Plymouth Local Group) will be giving a talk on, &quot;Diving and Conservation in British Columbia&quot;. Meeting at 12.30pm at the top of the steps at Batten Bay.</p> <p class="HeadingText">2010</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 28th January</span><br> January monthly meeting - Tam Sneddon (Environment Management Officer, Fisheries) will be explaining the complex rules and regulations covering fishing in and around Plymouth Sound. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 25th February</span><br> February monthly meeting - Nigel Mortimer (Estuaries Officer, South Devon AONB) will be telling us about the intriguing delights of estuarine mud - the bacteria love it! Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 20th March</span><br> Beach cleanup at Batten Bay. Meeting at 10.00am at the top of the steps at Batten Bay.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 25th March</span><br> March monthly meeting - Liz Wood, MCS Coral Reef Conservation Officer, will be talking to us about, &quot;Conservation Action for Corals, Giant Clams, Curios and Fish&quot;. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 29th April</span><br> April monthly meeting followed by Local Group AGM - Trudy Russell talking to us about &quot;iSpot&quot;, a website that provides a place for members of the public to learn about wildlife and share their interest with a friendly community. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 20th May</span><br> May monthly meeting - Oreston mud low tide ramble led by Keith Hiscock. Meeting at 5.30pm at Oreston and returning to the King's Arms afterwards if you wish.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Friday 18th June</span><br> June monthly meeting - Wembury low tide snorkel and rockpool ramble. Low tide 5.15pm. Meet any time after 5pm at Wembury to either snorkel or rockpool, look at seaweeds, etc.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 30th September</span><br> September monthly meeting - Keith Hiscock talking on, &quot;Life beneath polar seas: surprising diversity and the threat of climate change&quot. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Sunday 24th October</span><br> October monthly meeting - pontoon ramble at Mayflower Marina. Starting at 1pm and gathering afterwards in Jolly Jack's.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 25th November</span><br> November monthly meeting - Angie Gall on &quot;Scillies sparkling seas - highlights of marine surveys in an outstanding area&quot;. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="HeadingText">2009</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 17th January</span><br> Beach cleanups at Batten Bay and Jennycliffe followed by a BBQ at Jennycliffe. Meeting at 10.30am at Batten Bay and heading over to Jennycliffe around 12.00pm for the second cleanup and beach BBQ.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 29th January</span><br> January monthly meeting - Richard White (Devon Wildlife Trust) will be giving a talk on 'Seas of Plenty', followed by the Local Group AGM. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 26th February</span><br> February monthly meeting - Colin Munro speaking on 'The canoe fishermen of Mbour - a snapshot of artisanal fisheries, depleted stocks and environmental degradation problems in Senegal'. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 14th March</span><br> Marine ID course at Bovisand.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 26th March</span><br> March monthly meeting - Paul Naylor talking about the behaviour of underwater species. Starting at 7pm at the Diving &amp; Sailing Centre, Coxside.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th April</span><br> Seasearch Observer Course at Bovisand - entry level course with Saturday spent in the classroom and dives on Sunday.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Friday 10th April</span><br> Rockpool ramble and Easter Egg Hunt at Batten Bay, Mountbatten. Easter Egg Hunt will start at 11.30am with the ramble at 12noon.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 18th - Sunday 19th April</span><br> Seasearch Surveyor Course - for those who are Observers and want to move up to Surveyor level.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Saturday 25th April</span><br> Beach cleanup at Batten Bay. Meeting at 10.00am at Batten Bay at the top of the steps.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 30th April</span><br> April monthly meeting - Jason Hall-Spencer will be talking about the work he has been involved with on CO2 vents and acidification of the oceans. Starting at 7pm at the Marine Biological Association (MBA) on Plymouth Hoe.</p> <p class="MainText"><span class="TitleText">Thursday 28th May</span><br> May monthly meeting - Andrew Pilar and Jim Portus talking about fishing discards and sustainability of local fishing fleets.
